Weekend in Pekin

I drove to Pekin this weekend to hang out with Kate. On Saturday we had a picnic at the Mackinaw Winery. We are probably going to sign the contract any day to have our wedding reception there on October 3rd of next year. We’re just waiting to hear back from them.



Later that night we went to go see “Zach and Miri Make a Porno”. It was an interesting movie to say the least. Some parts were hilarious, but it still didn’t make the list of my favorite comedies. I think the high school kids behind us added an element of comedy as well when they were saying things like, “those are fake boobs man, I can tell by looking at them.” High five.

Other than that, it was basically a chill weekend. I need those every once in awhile.

1) Cold War Kids - Loyalty to Loyalty
Rating: 2.5 / 5

Their 2006 album “Robbers and Cowards” set a high bar for me, and unfortunately I was a bit disappointed in “Loyalty to Loyalty”. I listened to it a few times in a row hoping some of the songs would grow on me, but I just wasn’t feeling it. Their current single for the album, “Something is Not Right With Me”, is probably my favorite track.

1) Snow Patrol - A Hundred Million Suns
Rating: 4 / 5

I was never a big Snow Patrol fan until they took me by surprise and put on an awesome show at Lollapalooza in 2007. I think their new album is a great listen and worth checking out.

Rating: 4.5 / 5

Tell me again why Kings of Leon isn’t worshipped in the US like they are over in Europe again?? I was pleasantly surprised how track after track I was continually impressed. This will definitely be on my playlist for quite some time.
